This research study is testing a new online learning tool called AVITA, (Aortic Valve Improved Treatment Approaches).
- AVITA is designed to help people with aortic stenosis understand their treatment options and make better decisions with their valve specialist. Aortic stenosis is a narrowed heart valve that does not open properly.
AVITA asks a series of questions designed to help you explore your goals and preferences for treating aortic stenosis while learning about your treatment options.
- AVITA uses your responses to create a short summary that can help your valve specialist understand your priorities and use them to help you choose the valve treatment that’s best for you.
- If you choose to participate, you will be used asked to complete 2 online surveys and to view an online learning tool (AVITA) over the next few weeks regarding your thoughts about treating aortic stenosis
- The initial survey takes about 10-15 minutes to complete;
- The AVITA tool takes around 15-20 minutes;
- The final survey (after your appointment with your valve specialist) takes around 10-15 minutes.
- Participants must be over 18 years old, have severe (or symptomatic) aortic stenosis, and have an appointment with a valve specialist to discuss treatment options for aortic stenosis.
- Taking part in this research is voluntary and whether you take part is up to you. If you choose not to take part, it won’t be held against you. You can take part now and later drop out; it won’t be held against you.
